Lesson 14: THE SOFTWARE AS AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE

Reflection:
In using the computer, software is being used. There are software for entertainment, business, and also for education and instruction. Software is important because the computer is useless without it. It cannot function in the way that we know if there is no software, nor can it be useful to us. Choosing appropriate and updated educational software as teaching material is the responsibility of the teacher and the school. Somehow, learning is quite interesting when educational software is used.

Lesson 13: Cooperative Learning with the Computer

Reflection:
With computers, cooperative learning has become better because students can work together to come out with a very good output. Students can brainstorm and express their ideas through computers. Working together in computer makes students interact with each other for advice and help. However, computer works does not necessarily mean cooperative because there are computer works that are better off individualized. Hence, teachers should assign students their task, must be able to establish interdependence among students, teach cooperative skills, make everyone aware of their responsibilities, and of course help the student’s process information. Like what we experienced in our Seminar Workshop.

Lesson 12: Information Technology in Support of Student-Centered

Reflection:
I have long realized that it’s not the teacher who should be the center of the classroom, it should be the students. In this fast changing world, teachers have to change methods. Students must really be involve in the process of their learning because the world we are having now demands intimate participation. If we don’t participate we get loss in the way.

However I am not saying that this should be the only method to use, it is still depending on the lesson. As much as possible, teacher must make her lessons centered on the students.

Lesson 11: Computer as the Teacher's Tool

Reflection:
Nothing beats the real experience but when the real thing isn’t available, one can always go for a virtual alternative. It is important for every teacher to develop in his/her students the skill of being a constructivist since it’s the root cause of originality. Computer is never a replacement of the teacher. It is just a tool in making the instruction a whole lot better. Computer is a teacher’s tool and by definition of what a tool is (device that aids in accomplishing something), a computer helps a teacher accomplish his/her task. So as a future teacher, we will just act as a facilitator inside the classroom.

Lesson 10: Computer as a Tutor

Reflection:
Computer in the teaching and learning process is of great help in the sense that it assists the teacher in instruction with the advent of Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI). As a future teachers CAI are relieved from some of their works although computers really cannot replaced teachers. CAI ensures that knowledge and skills are acquired by the students in any computer activity. It helps the teacher decide on the appropriate learning objectives and plan the corresponding activities for the attainment of the objectives.
In this generation we must engaged our students in computer to enhance their ability or computer literacy.

LESSON 6: IT ENTERS A NEW LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

In conceptual models of learning there are better ways to learn other than rote learning or memorization and that learning is for use not only in school but in real life. So as a future educators we must be prepared to see how these theories of learning can be more specifically applied through the integration of educational technology in teaching-learning process.

LESSON 5: STATE-OF-THE-ART ET APPLICATION PRACTICES

Teachers and school can no longer avoid the integration of educational technology in instruction. Especially we are now in millennium era wherein computer activities is easy to perform so that the approaches in the classroom must change. Educators should open for more drastic educational changes in the years ahead.
